To say that Guam is a shopper’s haven is an understatement. Anyone traveling to Guam would do well to pack light, lest they find themselves paying for excess baggage. Remember, Guam offers US-style shopping tax free. Check out the following shopping centers if you find yourself in Guam:
1. Guam Premier Outlets
Guam Premier Outlets or GPO is located in Tamuning, Guam just off Marine Corps Drive. Here you can find Ross Dress for Less where you can find branded and luxury items for a fraction of the original price. In my recent trip to Guam, I was able to find a dress for a wedding for only $14.99 and a Michael Kors top for only $32.99. My husband’s favorite store in GPO is Calvin Klein where he recently bought a $2-pair of shorts and a $6 T-shirt. GPO is the perfect place for bargain hunters like us.
K-mart has a great selection of tasty treats like local and imported chocolates. I also love their cosmetics section and pharmacy where I usually buy my yearly supply of Ibuprofen, antacids, and anti-lactose medicine. You can also find Little Caesar’s here where a large cheese or pepperoni pizza only costs $10.
3. Micronesia Mall
Many tourists flock to the Micronesia Mall to go to Macy’s. It is great for clothes shopping especially if you happen to be there on their Macy’s One Day Sale, when the prices, even of sale items significantly drop. If an item you’ve already bought goes on sale, you can approach one of their staff, show them the receipt, and they will adjust the price for you. Also, make sure you get the additional 10% discount given to non-residents.
4. The Plaza Shopping and T Galleria by Duty Free Shop
The Plaza and the Duty Free Shop can be found in Tumon. The two establishments are perfect for high-end shopping. Here, one can find luxury brands like Chanel, Gucci, Prada, etc. There are also a variety of restaurants within walking distance from the shopping area.
